Neighbor Pulls Gun, Threatens to Shoot; Empty Wallet Spurned: Essex-Area Crime

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

From the Essex Police Precinct 11 website, a roundup of recent crime in the Essex-Middle River area:

August 1: Attempted second-degree burglary, 6200 block of Rossville Boulevard

At 8:52 p.m., two men were arrested after officers caught them in an NTB tire storage area. The suspects fled but were caught nearby.

July 30: Robbery, 400 block of S. Marlyn Avenue

At 1:35 a.m., a suspect walked up to the victims and pointed a gun at them. He took the victim's wallet, but dropped it when he found it contained no money. The suspect is a black male, 25 to 35 years old, 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, with a dark complexion.

July 29: Robbery, 400 block of Carroll Island Road

At 11:10 p.m., two suspects ran up to the victim, assaulted her and took her ear buds. The first suspect is a black male, 6-foot-1, and 200 pounds. The second suspect is a black male, 6-foot-2, and 200 pounds.

July 29: First-degree assault, 11700 block of Eastern Avenue

At 7:27 p.m., the victim walked to his vehicle and found the suspect standing beside it. The victim's cell phone and iPod were missing from the front seat. The victim chased the suspect and they struggled. The suspect cut the victim with a knife during the struggle. The suspect is a black man, 18 to 25 years old, 5-foot-9, and 200 pounds.

July 29: Second-degree burglary, 1500 block of Martin Boulevard

At 2:55 a.m., an unknown suspect used a rock to break a window, then took money from a cash register at the Shop One convenience store.

July 28: Homicide, 1400 block of Strawflower Road

At 12:35 a.m., police and fire units responded for a homicide. Additional details can be found on Essex-Middle River Patch.

July 27: Armed robbery - gun, 200 block of Back River Neck Road

At 3:45 a.m., the suspects approached the victim, displayed a weapon and demanded property. The suspects punched the victim several times and took his wallet and cell phone. Both suspects are black men, 20 to 25 years old, 6-foot, with medium builds and medium complexions. One suspect wore his hair in braids.

July 26 to July 27: First-degree burglary, Unit block of Blue Spire Circle

Between 10 p.m. on July 26 and 3:30 p.m. on July 27, an unknown suspect broke into the home through a rear basement window and took jewelry, cameras and electronics.

July 26: First-degree assault, 900 block of Homberg Avenue

At 8:55 p.m., a victim reported that his neighbor pointed a gun at him and threatened to shoot him. Paul Bentley Sr., 51, of the 900 block of Homberg Avenue, 21221, was arrested and charged.

July 24: Armed robbery - gun, 1500 block of Hyde Park Road

At 10:15 p.m., the victims were standing beside the Food Lion grocery store when the suspect approached and pointed a rifle at them. The suspect fled in a vehicle after taking money, wallets and cell phones from the victims.

July 24: Robbery, Back River Neck Road and Williams Avenue

At 3:51 p.m., two suspects assaulted the victim and took her cell phone while she was on the MTA bus. Two juveniles were arrested and charged.
