A casting call for the 2nd Annual American Girl Fashion Show will be held noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13.
Your daughter could help bring American Girl dolls to life, strut her stuff on the runway and help out kids struggling with cancer. Between noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 8200 Perry Hall Blvd. in the lower level, center court, White Marsh Mall plans to host a casting call for the 2nd Annual American Girl Fashion Show. Girls chosen during the model search will appear in the fashion show wearing historical and contemporary styles inspired by the American Girl dolls and stories. Girls must be between 5 and 12 years old and sizes 6x or 10. The show is scheduled March 23-24 at the Baltimore Hippodrome Theatre. A grand opening celebration is expected following the soft opening on Jan. 7.
The wait is almost over. Buca di Beppo, an Italian chain restaurant, is expected to open on the lower level of White Marsh Mall on Monday, Jan. 7. But don't expect much fanfare on its first day—a grand opening celebration is expected on a later, yet-to-be-determined date, according to a representative of the mall, which is located at 8200 Perry Hall Boulevard. The mall first announced in February 2012 that Buca di Beppo would fill the 6,944-square-foot space left vacant by the former Lin's China Buffet. Initially, the Italian restaurant was projected to open in spring 2012 and then fall 2012, according to announcements on the mall's website. Buca di Beppo first began hiring workers in November. Police arrested a Baltimore man shortly after he allegedly used a handgun to steal a vehicle outside the Sears department store at White Marsh Mall last week. Darien Marquis Hebron, 19, of the 2600 block of Loyola Southway, was charged with armed carjacking, as well as several traffic violations and other charges, a police report shows. Shortly after 10 p.m. on Dec. 21, in the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard, a man carrying a handgun approached the driver of a 2000 silver Cadillac Deville and forced him out of the car, according to the police report. A police helicopter chased a man on a motorcycle along Pulaski Highway Tuesday evening.
UPDATE (11:35 a.m., Dec. 12)—A man on a motorcycle led police on a chase from Harford County to White Marsh Tuesday evening, Baltimore County police confirmed. Starting at about 7:19 p.m., a Baltimore County police helicopter began pursuing a motorcyclist along Pulaski Highway, U.S. Route 40, in Joppatowne. The chase continued to Perry Hall Boulevard outside White Marsh Mall. There, Baltimore County police joined in searching for the man inside of White Marsh Mall, according to Cpl. Cathleen Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman. Police were unable to find the man, who may have received a ride to the Middle River area. In case you were wondering, Santa wears snowflake pajamas. The Big Man in Red entertained a crowd of kids and babies—many dressed for a long winter's nap—Tuesday morning inside White Marsh Mall. Following songtime with Miss Julie, Santa read "Twas the Night Before Christmas." Mark Warwick said he takes his 16-month-old daughter Chloe to Family Fun Day each Tuesday. "She loves it," he said. This week, she dressed in a Santa outfit. The weekly events, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., have recently grown in popularity and regularly draw more than 100 parents and kids, said Jessica Benson, a mall marketing manager. Weather conditions created by Hurricane Sandy closed the Perry Hall Boulevard mall.
Sorry, mall shoppers. White Marsh Mall at 8200 Perry Hall Blvd. announced it will be closed Monday, Oct. 29 due to Hurricane Sandy. It is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, unless announced otherwise. Towson Town Center Mall on Dulaney Valley Road in Towson, and Harford Mall on Belair Road in Bel Air also announced Monday closures. How has the storm impacted your shopping routine? Police arrested a Baltimore man one day following a robbery at knifepoint in the mall parking lot.
Police have arrested a young Baltimore man in connection with an armed robbery outside of White Marsh Mall. After police found him driving a stolen vehicle, Joseph Charles Williams, 18, was charged on Oct. 16 with several counts related to the robbery, according to Lt. Ron Brooks of the White Marsh police precinct. At about 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, a 20-year-old man was walking toward his vehicle in the 8200 block of Perry Hall Boulevard when another man in his 20s approached him and started making conversation, according to a police report. Actress Shirley Jones cut the ribbon on the revamped Boscov's.
Boscov's wrapped up a weekend of festivities with donations and a ribbon-cutting to mark the re-opening of their store in White Marsh Mall. The 200,000-square-foot department store opened to great fanfare, too, with the help of Perry Hall High School's marching band on Sunday morning. There were actually two ribbon-cuttings on Sunday: the official one—led by actress Shirley Jones—and another ribbon with $100 bills affixed to it that represented $1,000 in donations by Boscov's to the United Way of Central Maryland. Baltimore-area United Way affiliates did those honors. A nonprofit gala held at the store on Friday was expected to raise $25,000 for area organizations. The mall can be a great place to stock up on seasonal items—hats, coats, shoes—but what about your annual flu shot? Between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 at 8200 Perry Hall Boulevard, White Marsh Mall plans to offer free flu shots administered by St. Joseph Medical Center. The seasonal influenza vaccine for 2012-2013 will include protection against the H1N1 virus. The free walk-in clinic does not require reservations and is available to anyone 9 or older. Anyone between 9 and 17 will require a parent or guardian's signature, according to a statement released by the mall.
