OK not exactly. But local man Rick Ray did log 1,100 miles on a stationary bike at the Maryland Athletic Club this week, raising more than $2,600 for the RL52 Foundation in the process.
Cockeysville man Rick Ray last week honored his favorite Raven Ray Lewis with his own sort of "last ride." Ray rode his bike the distance between Timonium and the Superdome in New Orleans—the site of Super Bowl XLVII—raising thousands for the RL52 Foundation. “And still I have a very hard time sitting down as we speak,” Ray said. And he did it all without leaving the Maryland Athletic Club. “After doing this, the road would’ve been easier. I swear to God. Even with all the elements,” Ray said. A long-time gym member at MAC Timonium, Ray proposed the idea two weeks ago to raise money for Ray Lewis' children's foundation by doing what he does best—working out. “I loved the idea to tie it into Ray Lewis," Ray said. The Davis men seldom agree when it comes to sports. And that's the way we like it. This week, however, they are united in their belief that the Ravens will bring back a Super Bowl trophy to Baltimore. For the uninitiated, Robbie Davis, Sr. and Robbie Davis, Jr. are the stars of Ball Boys, an ABC pawn-style reality show filmed at their memorabilia shop Robbie's First Base in Timonium. Looking around the shop on West Ridgely Road, one could make the argument that the Davis boys could retire on their signed helmets, balls and posters should the Ravens beat San Francisco Sunday. Denver is thousands of miles and two time zones away, but that won't matter to Ravens fans Saturday afternoon as the hometown team takes on the Denver Broncos. This weekend saw Ray Lewis take the field at M&T Bank Stadium for the final time. The linebacker, who has been with the team since 1996 and announced his planned retirement last week, did his iconic dance one last time after the final play in their 24-9 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. On Saturday, Lewis and the Ravens defense faces a Broncos offense led by quarterback Peyton Manning. The Broncos (13-3) have won 11 straight. The Ravens head to Denver to take on the Broncos in an AFC semifinal game Saturday.
The big question for Ravens fans is, well, now what? What can the Ravens do on the road against Denver this weekend in the AFC semifinal after pulling off an emotional win over the Colts Sunday in Baltimore? A win versus the Broncos would land the team in the AFC title game for a second straight year. But a loss would end the career of Ray Lewis. That's why the team is going to have plenty of emotional drive in this contest also. The longtime Baltimore Raven is expected to join the network’s Monday Night Countdown program.
Ray Lewis won’t be out of work for long once this football season ends. According to a report from SI.com, Lewis is expected to sign a multi-year contract with sports network ESPN and will have “a significant role” on the station’s Monday Night Countdown program. Lewis, who was drafted by the Ravens in their first draft after the franchise relocated from Cleveland, announced his impending retirement Wednesday following this year’s playoffs. Lewis, a middle linebacker, has been the heart and soul of the franchise for 17 seasons, and helped lead the team to its only Super Bowl title in 2000. The Ravens will take on the Indianapolis Colts, the franchise that broke the city’s heart when it moved in 1984, at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis will retire at the end of the team's run in the current postseason. Lewis made the announcement while speaking to the media early Wednesday afternoon. The Ravens' Twitter feed said he told the team, "This will be my last ride." Lewis, the MVP of the Ravens' last Super Bowl in 2001, will have spent his entire 17-season career with Baltimore. Lewis, a first-round pick for the Ravens in 1996 (their first season in Baltimore) has been selected for 13 Pro Bowls and has three times been named the AFC defensive player of the year, in 2000, 2001 and 2003.
