Police have charged an 18-year-old man in the shooting of an off-duty police officer in Overlea. Essex resident Michael Jabateh, 18, was charged with attempted first degree murder after an incident in which police describe a man opening fire on a car driven by an off-duty police officer. The officer was trying to maneuver his personal car through a crowd of juveniles and young adults that blocked the roadway after leaving a party in 700 block of Dale Avenue.
