River Watch Gets Good Review

The Essex restaurant captured the attention of The Baltimore Sun recently.

Does the thought of crab, fried green tomatoes and mustard sauce make you hungry? Good, because River Watch in Essex has more where that dish came from. True to its name, the restaurant features seaside delicacies like cream of crab and seasoned steamed shrimp on the menu. But it also puts its own spin on Maryland's celebrated crustacean, with offerings like a crab tortilla or a crabcake-ham-bacon-cheddar sandwich called "The Crisfield." A recent review in The Baltimore Sun applauded the restaurant for its creative dishes. "The simple combination of salty meat and crab cake was a good one," according to the review, in reference to The Crisfield. Deals During Ravens Game at Essex-Area Bars, Restaurants

The Ravens take on the Denver Broncos Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

All this rooting can make a fan hungry. The Baltimore Ravens went airborne (complete with a firehose salute as the team plane left) Friday afternoon en route to a 4:30 p.m. Saturday showdown with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.  Many area bars and restaurants are offering gameday specials or something more for the NFL playoffs, which continue with divisonal matchups on Sunday. We checked with several area bars and restaurants, but if there's a deal you don't see here, share it in the comments. Carson's Creekside will offer happy hour prices with $2 domestic bottles and drafts. The restaurant will offer prizes and giveaways, with a free buffet at halftime. 2 Essex-Area Eateries Participate In Restaurant Week

The winter Baltimore County Restaurant Week begins Friday and runs through Jan. 27.

Two Essex-area restaurants are among 44 participating in the winter 2013 edition of Baltimore County's Restaurant Week. The event, which begins Friday and runs for more than two weeks through Jan. 27, features fixed price three-course meals at area eateries for both lunch and dinner.
