(Update 2:04 p.m.)—Police have identified a man who was killed in a Sunday night shooting as 27-year-old Alsawab Sawab. Police believe Sawab was shot inside his apartment in the 7000 block of Lachlan Circle, according to a statement from Cpl. Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman. A resident who lives in the same block called police shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday to report that a man suffering from a gunshot wound was outside the caller's home. Police and fire crews found the man, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a statement Sunday night. The 16-year-old boy told police he was attacked walking home Monday night along Middle River Road.
A 16-year-old boy was listed in stable condition at an area hospital after being stabbed Monday night in Middle River, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman said. County police spokeswoman Cathy Batton said the teen told investigators that he had just left the Royal Farms store, located on the 1300 block of Windlass Drive, and was walking home. He said he was walking along Middle River Road toward Compass Road when a man appeared, stabbed him and then ran off, Batton said. The boy then ran toward a friend for help, who called 911, Batton said.

Baltimore County police need assistance in finding those responsible for a series of suspicious fires last month in Essex. Police spokeswoman Detective Cathy Batton said someone set eight fires between 12:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 11. No one was hurt in the fires, which caused minor damage at each site, Batton added. Among the items set on fire, Batton said were two sheds, two vehicles, two dumpsters and two homes. The fires, she said occurred at the following locations: Batton said investigators have no suspects and are concerned that whomever is responsible may try again. Baltimore County police are investigating a vandalism spree that targeted a Middle River neighborhood over the weekend. Early Monday morning, police responded to reports that several cars and other property had been vandalized with spray paint in the 3700 block of Holly Grove Road, located off Bowleys Quarters Road. A wooden privacy fence had been marked with a swastika, police spokeswoman detective Cathy Batton said. Batton said there are no suspects, but police do not believe the vandalism incidents were gang-related or hate-related incidents. A 27-year-old man was shot after being robbed by two men late Wednesday night in Essex, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman said. Detective Cathy Batton said the victim was walking along the unit block of Nerbay Road just before 10 p.m. when two men approached him and demanded money and property. At some point during the confrontation, Batton said, the victim was shot before both suspects escaped in a dark-colored vehicle. Batton added that it doesn’t appear the suspects stole anything before leaving. Police in Baltimore, Harford and Anne Arundel counties are investigating whether a string of armed robberies over the weekend are connected. A male suspect entered a 7-Eleven store in the 200 block of Back River Neck Road in Essex at about 2:10 a.m., Sunday, and held up the store at gunpoint, according to police reports. The robber ordered a customer out and robbed the clerk before escaping with about $115, two packs of cigarettes and a cigar. Then, about 40 minutes later, Baltimore County police responded to the unit block of Baltimore Avenue in Dundalk for a reported armed robbery at a Royal Farms store.
