Nothing like a game of catch with Dad. How about on Father's Day, and on the field at Camden Yards? The Baltimore Orioles announced Friday that the club is selling special ticket packages that will allow fans to do just that. The Father's Day Catch on the Field Package will be available for $150 for the Orioles' Sunday, June 16 game against Boston. The package includes two left field lower box tickets and the opportunity for two people to join in a pre-game catch session on the field. Additional tickets will cost $75 each, according to a team release. An upgraded package costs $198 and includes two lower box tickets in sections 6 to 14 (on the first base side) or 60 to 64 (on the third base side). The catch session will start at 11:45 a.m…

Senior attackman Nick Eliadis scored four goals and had two assists against Parkville to reach 159 career points.
Kenwood High School's Nick Eliadis scored four goals and had two assists in Monday's boy's lacrosse defeat of Parkville High School. The prolific afternoon of scoring put the senior in Kenwood's sports history books. Entering the game, the attackman needed four points to tie Mike Powers as the Bluebids' all-time points leader, according to Coach Philip Rossetti. Powers, who played for Kenwood from 1999 to 2002, led the Bluebirds to a division title and a regional tournament final appearance in 2002 when the team finished the season with a 15-2 record. Going downtown for the Orioles home opener on Friday? You may be able to leave the umbrella at home. Rain set to move in Thursday night and continue Friday will move out of the Baltimore area by noon at the latest, a few hours before the Orioles host the Minnesota Twins at Camden Yards at 3:05 p.m., according to the latest National Weather Service forecast for Baltimore. There is 80 percent chance of rain Thursday and a 40 percent chance on Friday. That's a change from earlier forecasts. Friday's high could get up to 60, according to the forecast. If you're visiting games later in the Orioles' homestand, the rest of the forecast appears dry. The high will get to 56 on Saturday and 63 on Sunday, before getting into the 70s next week.

By Robert Aupperley CCBC Essex Interim Athletic Administrator A roundup of recent Essex Campus, Community College of Baltimore County athletics competition: On Wednesday, the baseball team lost to CCBC Dundalk, 18-10. The next day, the Knights lost both ends of a doubleheader against Rappahannock Community College, 5-0 and 5-4. The Knights host Cecil Community College at 3:30 p.m. April 2. The men's lacrosse team on Wednesday defeated a tough Howard Community College team, 14-13, and followed that close victory with a trouncing Saturday of Army Prep, 19-2. The 7-1 team next travels to Monroe Community College for a game April 3. The women's lacrosse team on Thursday lost a tough game against Harford Community College, 17-16.

Essex lacrosse teams sweep rivals CCBC Catonsville; the baseball team best Prince George's Community College.

Aupperley Interim Athletic Administrator, CCBC Essex Recent athletics results from the Essex campus of The Community College of Baltimore County: The men's and women's lacrosse teams swept CCBC Catonsville on March 20. The Lady Knights won 17-9, improving their record to 2-1. The men won 23-2, and improved their record to 4-1. The baseball team defeated Prince George's Community College, 6-1.

The Orioles are looking for athletic men and women 18 or older for the 2013 season. Participants are asked to dress casually and bring their own baseball gloves, according to a news release. Baltimore Orioles fans descended upon Sarasota last week to live the life of a pro baseball player and received instructions from pros and retired players.
SARASOTA, FL—Moments after attempting to swing for the fences in a home run derby at Ed Smith Stadium, Norb Petr tried to catch his breath. The balls were well short of the wall, but for Petr, the experience was a grand slam. The longtime Baltimore Orioles fan was living the dream at the team's Spring Training home, feeling like he was part of the team he's cheered on for decades. The Rosedale resident survived both prostate and melanoma cancers, so this was a good as year as any after going through so much. "Every year I would make an excuse even though my wife and sons would say, 'Do it, you'd love it. You're going to be 60 this year,'" he said. "Now I'm mad I didn't do it before."
