Sterlin Matthews, 19, of the 1800 block of N. Bentalou St. is found guilty of first-degree murder and other charges in Oct. 31, 2010, shooting of Dequan Burks and two others near the footbridge over the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
A Baltimore County Circuit Court jury found Sterlin Matthews, 19, guilty of the murder of Dequan Burks, who was 16 when he and three others were shot on the night of Oct. 31, 2010, near the pedestrian footbridge over the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, according to a release issued by State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger. According to the release, Burks had been with a group of teenagers for Halloween in Lansdowne. The group crossed a footbridge into Baltimore Highlands when shots were fired by Matthews, the release said. Burks and the two others were shot near the 100-block of Twin Circle Way, according to police. When police arrived on the scene, they found Burks lying on the sidewalk. Warrants have been executed against Internet cafes in Baltimore County.
UPDATE (1 p.m.)—Baltimore County police raided ten Internet cafes on Wednesday where they believe illegal gambling took place, police announced in a release. According to the release, detectives conducted a year-long investigation and found that the businesses were illegally using electronic gaming devices. Equipment was seized during the raid, starting at around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Victim declared dead at Shock Trauma after shooting on 3800 block of McDowell Ln.
A man was shot and killed on the 3400 block of McDowell Ln. in Baltimore Highlands shortly before midnight on Friday, according to police. At 11:46 p.m., Baltimore County police and fire personnel responded to the 3800 Block of McDowell Lane for a report of a shooting, police said in a release. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, the release said. He was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he later died, according to the release. The Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit is investigating this incident. Victim, 45, is robbed by man introduced as co-worker's cousin.
A Middle River man discovered that looking for love in all the wrong places apparently includes a Halethorpe bar with a co-worker. According to police, on Sept. 13 a 45-year-old Middle River man met a co-worker known as "Katie" for a date at a bar on the 4400 block of Washington Blvd. The suspect brought along an unknown male who she introduced as her cousin, police said. When the victim left the bar at around 1:45 a.m., the cousin assaulted him and took his wallet, money and medication, according to police. The incident is under investigation, police said.

Three people accused of using stun gun to steal acquaintance's dog.
Three people have been charged in an Aug. 30 incident in which a stun gun was used as a weapon in an attempt to steal a puppy belonging to an acquaintance, according to police. At around 5:55 p.m., a 23-year-old woman who lives on the 3800 block of McDowell Lane was outside with her puppy when she was approached by a man and two women who attempted to take her pet, police said. One of the suspects produced a stun gun, but the weapon was not used on the victim, according to police. The suspects fled the scene when the victim resisted, but later returned and were arrested, police said. Two officers are on routine administrative leave during the investigation of an Aug. 29 shooting of naked man with assault rifle.
Baltimore County police have identified the two officers involved in the shooting of a naked armed man at the Beltway Motel early Wednesday morning. According to police spokesperson Cpl. Cathleen Batton, Officer Kovacevich, a five-year veteran, and Officer Neal, a three-year veteran, are both are assigned to patrol units at Precinct 1/Wilkens. Both officers are on routine administrative leave during the investigation of the shooting, according to officials.
