The man who abducted Vi Ripken made stops in Glen Burnie and Middle River, Aberdeen police said Monday. Police are seeking help from anyone that may have encountered the man on July 24 or July 25. Nearly two weeks after Vi Ripken was abducted from her home, police continue to search for clues and a suspect in the case. Aberdeen police spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said tips continue to come in, particularly following Friday's series of national television appearances and a high-profile news conference involving the victim's son—National Baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken. At least two Baltimore-area billboards featured the composite sketch of Violet Ripken's alleged abductor. Police released the sketch Tuesday.
A day after it was released by Aberdeen police, a composite sketch of the man who allegedly abducted Vi Ripken appeared on billboards in the Baltimore area. The advertisements—jointly funded by Aberdeen Police Department, Harford County Sheriff's Office, Metro Crime Stoppers and the FBI—appeared on revolving billboards along Interstate 95 and Interstate 83. The billboard, with the black-and-white sketch, read: "WANTED For the Abduction of Violet Ripken Call: (410)-836-5432" The phone number is a 24-7 hotline dedicated to the case.
