Although CASA volunteers mean well, CASA doesn’t deliver on its self-serving hype. CASARead More actually worsens the turmoil for foster children. Contrary to CASAs claims, CASA prolongs needless foster care – doing serious harm to many of the children it is meant to help. CASA also reinforces the racial and class biases of the child welfare system. Those revelations are in the most comprehensive study ever done of CASA, a study commissioned by the National CASA Association itself. According to the trade journal Youth Today, CASA’s efforts to spin the findings “can border on duplicity.” CASA won’t post the study on its website (and I’ve been surprised at how many CASAs don’t know about it themselves) so we’ve posted it on ours. There’s a link in our analysis of CASA failings available here: http://bit.ly/5bFRnq And CASA is not a child’s voice, unless the child happens to agree with the CASA. If the child disagrees, the CASA still recommends what the CASA thinks is best, and the child is effectively silenced. Robert, Have you had any luck on finding the location of the Galloway graveyard? I've driven by theRead More farm fields that are located between Galloway road and Chesnut road and noticed a cluster of large trees and brush in the field. Normally this cluster of trees marks a burial ground. Just a thought.
