Middlesex Elementary School has been a fixture in Essex for 54 years. Located at 142 Bennett Road, Middlesex has grown alongside a revitalized Eastern Avenue corridor. It earned state and national Blue Ribbon recognition in 1997 for its high academic achievement. The school has a capacity of 517 students, but housed just 511 in the last school year. There are 30 teachers and 33 classrooms at the school.
Teachers and administrators at Middlesex believe that any student can succeed when they are given the proper resources and placed in the proper learning environment. This is established through a consistent structure for both math and reading instruction.
The school's curriculum is designed to ensure students think critically and use their imagination, while being encouraged to do their best at each grade level.
Middlesex also has an active PTA that sponsors programs and events in hopes of garnering more community involvement. This is done through a collaborative effort between teachers, administrators, students and parents to provide the best possible learning environment for all of those at the school.
