Memorial Day Service Set for Holly Hill Monument

Essex, Middle River and neighboring residents are invited to observe Memorial Day Monday at a solemn and poignant service at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

The service will start at 9 a.m. at the Lamky, Luther, Whitehead Veterans Memorial at the foot of the cemetery's Valor Hill.

The program will include a mini-parade to the monument, prayers, reading of the names on the monument, laying of wreaths and patriotic songs, according to organizers.

All residents are encouraged to attend the service "to honor those who paid the supreme sacrifice and gave their lives to protect our freedoms," organizers said in a statement.

Holly Hill Memorial Garden is at 10201 Bird River Road in Middle River.
