How To Eat Maryland Blue Crabs The Right Way

The expert at Perry Hall's Bill's Seafood and Catering shows us the proper way to pick and clean Maryland crabs.

By Nick DiMarco

You'd be surprised how many Marylanders don't know how to properly pick apart and enjoy blue crabs, according to the fine folks at Bill's Seafood and Catering.

With summertime in full swing and the Fourth of July just around the corner, the beer will flow and the tables will be lined with brown paper, and sure enough, you will find yourself at a crab feast. If you're asking, "Where is the claw cracker?" then you need to keep reading because we're not talking about lobster here.

Watch the video for a tutorial presented by Brianna Hacke, of Bill's Seafood, so you can learn how to truly embrace Marylands roots. Hacke has worked at the Perry Hall mainstay seafood house for five and a half years.

"The first thing you have to do is find the heaviest one, so the guy sitting next to you doesn't get it," she said.

Hacke breaks down point-by-point what to eat, what not to eat and the best way to get after it.

You can share the video with your out-of-state friends so they don't keep asking your about proper mallet form.

Bill's Seafood and Catering is located at 9016 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD.
