Organizers of Artscape recently announced coming attractions at this year's outdoor soiree, which is billed as America's largest free arts festival. Artscape will take place in July in midtown Baltimore City, near the University of Baltimore, and the 2014 festival will emphasize dance and motion.

Ballet Memphis and Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater will shake things up at The Lyric, while belly dancers and pop-up performances move through the streets.

Many featured artworks will explore the idea of movement, including an exhibition in the Mount Royal Avenue median called "Mobiles, Whirligigs, Automata, Rube-Goldbergs & other Kinetic Contraptions."

Above Charles Street, the Aerial Arts Arena will showcase aerial artists, dancers and circus acts using aerial cloth, trapezes, hoops and other devices to spotlight movement. At night, DJs will keep things moving in the arena as well.

Local, regional and national performers will light up the MEA Energy Stage with headliners Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Ozomatli, Galactic and Anthony Hamilton.

From 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, there will be DJs, a 90-foot LED ferris wheel near Penn Station, ballroom dancing in the garden in the 1700 block of North Charles Street and other happenings at Artscape After Hours on Charles Street.

Gamescape will be set up on North Avenue with video games, video game creators and live performances of video game music.

Throughout Artscape, visitors will be able to see a 50-by-40-foot LED screen above Station North showing live tweets and visuals from the festival.

The 33rd annual Artscape will take place July 18 to 20 in midtown Baltimore. More information is available from the organizer, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts
