Women's Lax: CCBC Essex Snaps 36-Game Skid

The Knights pick up the program's first victory since relaunching the program in 2009.

Sophomore midfielder Julie Hofmann (Mercy) scored six goals as CCBC Essex snapped a 36-game losing streak Tuesday with an 18-10 over Notre Dame (Maryland).

Also for the Knights, Paige Orpin ()scored four goals and added an assist to give the program its first win since 2005. CCBC Essex's losing streak covered the 2009-2011 season as the school did not field a women's lacrosse team from 2006-2008.

Other key contributors for CCBC Essex included freshman goalies Leanne Bittner () and Roxanne Diedrich (homeschool) who had seven and two saves, respectively.

CCBC Essex returns to action at 7 p.m. March 8 when it hosts Gwynedd-Mercy College.
