WLax: CCBC Essex Advances to Region XX Semis

CCBC Essex women's lacrose team's dream season will continue.

Sophomore midfielder Julie Hofmann scored four goals as the Knights defeated visiting , 13-12,  Saturday in the NJCAA Region XX/District B women’s lacrosse tournament quarterfinals.

Goalie Leanne Bittner () had 18 saves for CCBC Essex (11-5), which avenged a 17-10 loss to Harford just two days earlier in Bel Air. CCBC Essex won the first meeting between the two schools, 18-8, on March 22.

CCBC Essex, ranked fifth in the latest NJCAA national poll, will next face top-seeded Anne Arundel Community College in a semifinal game, set for 1 p.m. May 5 in Arnold.

Anne Arundel Community College (16-0) has dominated th Knights in two previous meetings, defeating the Knights 15-5 on March 19 and 20-9 on April 4.

Whatever occurs next week, CCBC Essex . The Knights entered this season having lost 36 straight games after the program relauched in 2009 after not fielding a team from 2006-2008.
