Prep Sports: Kenwood Cruises Past Western Tech in Boys Lacrosse

Bluebirds blank Pikesville in softball; Eastern Tech remains undefeated in lacrosse.

It was a mixed day for Kenwood’s lacrosse teams.

Junior midfielder Walt Dolata had four goals and two assists, while senior attack Jake Kryglik added three goals and two assists as the boys team cruised to a 17-1 win over Western Tech. Junior Jesse Greifzu won 13 of 13 face-offs for Kenwood (1-1), which plays again Wednesday at Parkville.

However, Kenwood’s girls team dropped its season opener, 11-4, against visiting Sparrows Point. Senior attack Megan Schoen scored three goals and Angie Abel played tough in goal for the Bluebirds (0-1), who go on to host Parkville on Wednesday.

Kenwood Blanks Pikesville in Softball

Sophomore third baseman Faith Ledford scored three runs, had five stolen bases and hit a double for Kenwood, which shut out Pikesville, 10-0.

Senior pitcher Ashley Fallon picked up the win while junior Bethany Young scored three runs for the Bluebirds (2-0), who host neighborhood rival Chesapeake today.

Eastern Tech Lax Squads Remain Undefeated

The Eastern Tech boys’ team improved to 3-0 with an 11-2 victory at Lansdowne. The Mavericks have outscored their opponents 18-3 their last two games.

The Mavericks girls’ squad won 14-3 over Lansdowne, improving their early season record to 2-0.

Both squads return to action at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The boys play at Owings Mills while the girls host the same school in Essex.
