Kenwood Boys Basketball Starts Season Strong

The Bluebirds have won five straight games following a double-overtime victory over Western Tech.

’ s boys basketball team is off to a 5-1 start following its 60-59 double-overtime win Wednesday against visiting Western Tech.

Senior forward Jonathan Richardson scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while senior guard Travis Jenkins had 13 points and six assists to lead .

The Bluebirds next take the court Wednesday when it participates in the Holiday Tournament.

Kenwood Fares Well at Baltimore County Relays

Kenwood’s sixth and the boys took eighth on Thursday in the Baltimore County Relays at the Fifth Regiment Armory.

Among the highlights for the girls, the 4x200 relay team of Rakiya Ratliff, Shaneara Terry, Rayven Ray, and Alexis Moog took fourth with a time of 1:56.7. Also, the 4x400 relay of Ray, Ratliff, Jada Boyd, and Moog placed sixth out of 25 teams in 4:33.3.

In addition, the 1,600 sprint medley team of Moog, Ratliff, Terry and Boyd placed third out of 20 teams with a time of 4:47.3.

In the field events, Shannon Foster won the pole vault after clearing 6 feet, 6 inches. Foster, Ray and Terry also came in second in the high jump relay.

Hereford won the overall girls title with 58 points followed by Franklin (39) and Western Tech (29). Kenwood finished with 24 team points.

On the boys side, the high jump team of Jaleel Feggins, Jacob Hux and Eric Ulrich also came in second while the boys shuttle hurdle team of Terrell Griffin, A'donta Wallace, Hux and Aaron Brzezinski came in fifth in 40.4 seconds for Kenwood. 

Franklin won the boys team title with 42 points, followed by Hereford (38) and (30). Kenwood finished with 13 team points.
