Prep Baseball: Mavericks Fall in Region Semis
Digital Harbor overcomes early deficit en route to an 8-3 victory over Eastern Tech.
Eastern Tech's run toward the school's third state title ended Wednesday following its 8-3 loss to Baltimore City's Digital Harbor in the Class 2A North regional semifinal.
The Mavericks led 2-0 in the top of the first inning, but fell behind 6-2, following the Rams scoring of one, two and three runs, respectively, in the bottom of the first, second and third innings.
The Mavericks scored once more in the fourth, but the Rams answered with one more run during each of the fifth and sixth innings.
Adam Szamski went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored, and Jimmy Szamski went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Eastern Tech (11-6).
Additionally, Nick McElfish went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base for the Mavericks, who were coming off of Monday's 26-0 win over Edmondson of Baltimore City.
