MLax: CCBC Essex Advances to Region XX finals

The Knights are one win away from returning to the national tournament following their 14-6 victory over CCBC Catonsville on Friday.

Midfielder Evan Ryan scored three goals as the CCBC Essex men's lacrosse team advanced to the Region XX finals following its 14-6 win over CCBC Catonsville on Friday at Anne Arundel Community College.

Freshman attack Ty Kashur scored two goals and had two assists while attack Rocco Pillero and midfielders Neil Hutchinson and Austin Spaulding scored twice for the Knights (14-2).

Goalie Dom Moriarty had 14 saves for CCBC Essex, which faces Howard Community College at 4 p.m. Sunday at Anne Arundel Community College in the Region XX championship game. CCBC Essex beat Howard 20-8 on April 28 in the regular season finale.

“We did a lot of great things and won a playoff game," CCBC Essex coach Shawn Burke told his players after the game. "We need to clean up a few things to win another Region XX Title on Sunday against a good Howard team.”
