Men's Lacrosse: CCBC Essex Wins Region XX Championship

With 16-7 victory over Howard CC, the Knights advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Sophomore midfielder Travis Crane (Eastern Tech) scored five goals, including three in the first quarter, to set the tone as host-CCBC Essex won the Region XX championship on Sunday with a 16-7 victory over Howard Community College.

With the victory, CCBC Essex (13-2) advances to the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse National Tournament May 14-15 in Herkimer, NY. The Knights enter the four-team tournament as the third seed and will face No. 2 Nassau Community College (12-3).

The winner of that game will face the winner of top-seeded Onondaga Community College (17-0) and No. 4 Genesee Community College (14-3).

Against Howard, midfielder Brandon Kendrick scored two goals and had three assists, while attack Luke Phipps had two goals and an assist.

Crane was named the Region XX Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player, while sophomore defender Neil Willis was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Additionally, midfielder Brent Hiken, goalie Eric Biller, Kendrick, Phipps, Crane and Willis were named to the Region XX All-Tournament Team.
