Men's Lacrosse: CCBC Essex to Play for National Title

The Knights defeated Nassau CC in semifinals to advance to face two-time defending champion Onondaga CC on Sunday.

Third-seeded CCBC Essex defeated No. 2 Nassau Community College, 6-5, on Saturday to advance to the NJCAA national title game against Onondaga Community College in Herkimer, N.Y.

Travis Crane (Eastern Tech) and Neil Hutchinson (Loyola) scored two goals apiece to lead the Knights in the semifinal contest.  Christian Leone and Dixon Greene (Hereford) each scored once as well for CCBC Essex.  Goalie Eric Biller (Westminster) had 13 saves in the victory. 

For the Knights, the win over Nassau helped them avenge a 9-5 loss on April 9. CCBC Essex improved to 15-2 with the win on Saturday.

However, the Knights will now face their toughest test of the season as they take on top-seeded Onondaga Community College, the two-time defending NJCAA champions, at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Lazers (18-0) advanced to the title game with a 24-4 victory over Genesee Community College in the other semifinal game.

Onondaga defeated CCBC Essex 23-8 on April 21 in New York. This game is also a rematch of last year's title game, which the Lazers won, 17-4.
