Men's Lacrosse: CCBC Essex Falls Short in National Title Game

The Knights jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but lost to Onondaga Community College in the NJCAA finals, 12-9.

CCBC Essex had one goal entering the 2011 season: win a national title.

The Knights advanced to the NJCAA national title game for the second straight year, but in the end they fell just short of their goal as the lost to Onondaga Community College, 12-9, on Sunday in Herkimer, N.Y.

Onondaga wrapped up their third straight national title by finishing 19-0, although it wasn't as easy as last year's title game, which the Lazers won, 17-4.

On Sunday, the Knights (15-3) went ahead 5-1 in the first half but were outscored 11-4 after that point.

For CCBC Essex, Dixon Green (Hereford) led the Knights with three goals.  Travis Crane (Eastern Tech) and Neil Hutchinson (Loyola) had two scores apiece.  Crane, Hutchinson, Neil Willis and goalie Eric Biller (Westminster) were named to the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament All-Tournament Team.
