Lacrosse: 2nd Quarter Key in CCBC Essex Win

The Knights scored 10 goals in the second quarter en route to a 21-8 win over Anne Arundel Community College.

Sophomore midfielder Brent Hiken () won 15-of-18 faceoffs and scored three goals as CCBC Essex defeated visiting ., 21-8, on Wednesday night in a key Region XX contest.

The second quarter proved to be the difference in the game as CCBC Essex (6-1) erupted for 10 goals in the frame, which included at one point scoring three times in 30 seconds. Freshmen attack Andy Thrasher () scored a team-high four goals for the Knights.

Also, freshmen attack Austin Spaulding (St. Mary Ryken) and Brian White () scored three goals and two goals and two assists, respectively, while freshman attack Ty Kashur contributed two goals and an assist for CCBC Essex , which is ranked second in the most recent NJCAA national poll.

Freshman midfielder Carter Treuchet (Westminster) contributed a goal and scooped up seven ground balls in the win. CCBC Essex next plays at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts national power Nassau Community College (5-0), which is ranked third nationally.
