Lacrosse: Eastern Tech, CCBC Essex Win Big

After returning from spring break, the area's high school and college lacrosse teams came back with convincing victories.

Junior attack Bobby Walsh had five goals and three assists as the boys' lacrosse team defeated host-Overlea, 13-8, on Tuesday.

Senior attack Hunter Oleszczuk contributed three goals and an assist while Charles Rice finished with two goals and an assist for Eastern Tech (4-3). Other goal scorers for the Mavericks included Andrew Hess, Austin Schappell and Ryan Wagner, who each found the back of the net once.

"It is probably the best game we have played so far this year and just what we needed coming off that tough loss to Kenwood last week," Scherer said.

Eastern Tech returns to the field at 6:30 p.m. Friday when its hosts at CCBC Essex for their first home game of the season.

Midfielders Neil Hutchinson () and Austin Spaulding (St. Mary's Ryken) scored four goals each as CCBC Essex crusied to a 20-5 victory over .

Attack Andy Thrasher scored three goals, while Rocco Piliero, Evan Ryan and Zach Gagnon scored twice each for the Knights (9-2), who are ranked third in the country in the latest NJCAA poll.

Also, attack Ty Kashur contributed three assists while midfielder Brent Hiken (Pikesville) won 22-of-25 faceoffs for CCBC Essex, which returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday against fourth-ranked Genessee Community College.

CCBC Essex's Director of Lacrosse Operations Todd Stiegler provided statistics for the Knights' game.
