Honors Pour in for Essex Prep Teams

Eastern Tech softball, baseball well-represented on All-County teams as they march forward in the postseason.

Eastern Tech freshman Jordan Cargile and junior teammate Alexis Peay were named to Baltimore County coaches All-County First-Team for softball as a pitcher and outfielder, respectively.

Three other members were named to the All-County second-team for the Mavericks, winners of the county championship under coach Jack Meyers.

Eastern Tech advanced to the Class 2A North region semifinals following a 10-1 win over City on Monday. The Mavericks will host Dundalk at 3:45 Wednesday in the semifinals. Dundalk advanced with a 16-6 win over Edmondson.

Below are the first- and second-team selections for All-Baltimore County, as well as the first- and second-team for All-Division.

University of Maryland-bound senior, Shane Campbell, of Kenwood was named Offensive Player of The Year by the Baltimore County baseball coaches, and was among a number of Essex-area players to be selected to their All-Baltimore County baseball team.

Bluebirds On Track

Kenwood's boys track team finished ninth in last weekend's Baltimore County track championships, which was swept by Hereford's boys and girls for the second straight year.

Travis Jenkins, was third in both the high jump and long jump and sixth in 300 hurdles, and teammate Tavon Lucas was a runner-up in the 200-meter dash and was sixth in the long Jump.
