Essex Schools Prepare for Championship Games

CCBC Essex hosts Howard CC in Region XX men's lacrosse finals; Eastern Tech takes on Lansdowne on Monday at CCBC Catonsville for county softball title.

CCBC Essex continues its quest for an NJCAA national title as it hosts Howard Community College at 1 p.m. today in the Region XX men's lacrosse championship.

The host-Knights advanced to the finals with a 9-3 win over Harford Community College on Friday. Howard reached the championship game with a 14-13 victory over Anne Arundel Community College.

CCBC Essex enters today's game with a 13-2 record with includes a 23-8 win over Howard on April 13.

The winner of Sunday's game automatically advances to the NJCAA semifinals, to be held May 14 in Herkimer, N.Y.

Eastern Tech to Play for County Softball Title

Eastern Tech improved to 15-0 on the year with a double-header sweep of Perry Hall to close out the regular season.

The Mavericks won the first game over the Gators, 2-1 and the second contest 15-3. Freshman pitcher Jordan Cargile won the first game while senior Liz Bondarenko took the second contest for Eastern Tech.

The wins helped Eastern Tech secure a berth in the Baltimore County Championship against Lansdowne at 4 p.m. on Monday at CCBC Catonsville.

This game is a rematch from a  regular season match-up from last month, which Eastern Tech won, 2-0. Cargile had an RBI and allowed just three hits on the mound in that meeting.
