Eastern Tech Softball, Baseball Advance

The Mavericks move on to regional semifinals after winning on Monday.

Sophomore pitcher Jordan Cargile allowed no earned runs and seven hits and struck out seven as advanced to the Class 3A North semifinals with an 8-1 victory over Aberdeen on Monday.

Senior outfielder Alexis Peay had a triple and three runs scored and senior second baseman Allison Williams had a double and two RBIs for the Mavericks (20-2).

is scheduled to host Hereford in a regional semifinal game on  at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Hereford advanced with a 12-0 win over City.

EASTERN TECH BASEBALL: Neil Westdorp and Cody Gwinn drove in two runs each as the Mavericks defeated , 6-4, in a Class 3A North quarterfinals game.

Eastern Tech jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning. But, Parkville rallied to take a 4-3 lead after four innings. The Mavericks then answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Pitcher Troy Schuchman allowed four runs on five hits, struck out seven and walked three to pick up the complete game victory for the Mavericks.

Eastern Tech is scheduled to travel to North Harford at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the regional semifinals. North Harford advanced with a 6-0 victory over C.M. Wright.

KENWOOD TRACK & FIELD: Senior Travis Jenkins captured first place in the high jump and the long jump and placed third in the triple jump to highlight the Bluebirds' performance in this past weekend's Baltimore County track & field championship meet.

Jenkins set a school and championship meet record in the long jump by clearing 22 feet, nine inches and won the high jump by clearing 6-0 and cleared 40-01 in the triple jump in leading 's boys team to a 10th place finish with 26 points.

Milford Mill captured the boys title with 69 points.

On the girls side, senior Rayven Ray won high jump as she cleared 5-0 in helping lead the Bluebirds to a seventh-place finish with 28 points.

Also for the girls, Alyn Sankar came in third in long jump with a school-record 15-08 and placed fifth in the triple jump (31-06) while Shaneara Terry came in fourth place in the pole vault (7-06).

captured the overall team title on the girls side with 160 points.
