Eastern Tech Set for Region Finals Girls' Soccer Showdown

The Mavericks play C. Milton Wright in the Class 3A North regional finals at 6 p.m., Tuesday at Harford Community College

Eastern Tech's girls' soccer team will try to get back to the state semifinals when it faces C. Milton Wright in the Class 3A North regional finals at 6 p.m., Tuesday at Harford Community College.

Fourth-seeded (14-2-1) advanced to the regional finals with a 6-0 win over Franklin on Friday. No. 2 C. Milton Wright advanced to the regional finals with a 3-2 win over Harford County-rival Bel Air.

The winner of North regional title will face the winner of the Urbana-Damascus match in the Class 3A state semifinals, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at CCBC Essex.

Mount Carmel Loses in IAAM 'C' Girls' Soccer Finals

came up one upset short in its bid for an IAAM "C" Conference title as the Cougars lost 2-1 to top-seeded Chapelgate Christian on Saturday at Friends.

Mount Carmel finished the season 12-8-1 after entering the tournament as the sixth seed. The Cougars reached the championship match with a 3-1 win over Key in the quarterfinals and a 1-0 win over Park in the semifinals.

Kenwood Rally Falls Short in Regional Semis

The Kenwood girls' soccer team’s bid for a region title ended Friday when its late rally came up just short in a 3-2 loss Friday at Catonsville in the Class 4A North semifinals.

(11-5) trailed 3-0 with 30 minutes remaining but stormed back in the second half, thanks to Cierra Wilson. The junior scored twice down the stretch, the second goal coming with 12 minutes remaining to close the deficit to a goal.

The Bluebirds had several opportunities to tie the game as they hit the goal post twice in the final 10 minutes and had three corner kick opportunities in the last 90 seconds.

Kenwood coach Chris Mattern said he could not be more proud of his program, which has gone 22-10 the last two seasons. 

Eastern Tech Football Finishes Strong

Eastern Tech ended a disappointing football season on a high note as it rallied for a 21-14 season-ending victory Friday over Milford Mill.

Running back Francis Massally rushed for 181 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries while quarterback Kyle Bosserman rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries for the Mavericks, who trailed 7-0 after the first quarter.

Senior defensive end Rashard Smith had a team-high five tackles and two sacks for Eastern Tech.

The win marked a strong finish for the Mavericks (4-5), who close out the season on a three-game winning streak after opening the year 1-5.

Massally finished the season with 1,002 yards and 13 touchdowns on 110 carries. Bosserman rushed for 521 yards and 9 touchdowns on 68 carries.

Senior defensive tackle Brandon Jones finished the year with a team-high 49 tackles and tied with Jones for the team lead in sacks with five. Bosserman also led the Mavericks with four interceptions.

Eastern Tech Medals in Badminton

Seniors Josh DiGiacomo and Amanda Leap placed second in the recently held to earn a silver medal.

The performance marked the first time the Mavericks have placed in the tournament.
