CCBC Holds Off Navy Prep in Lacrosse

The Knights improve to 5-1 in men's lacrosse while the women's team remains undefeated and the baseball squad sweeps a double-header over the weekend.

 

Freshman attack Andy Thrasher () scored four goals and CCBC Essex’s defense did the rest as the Knights held off the visiting Naval Academy Prep School, 7-5, on Sunday in men’s lacrosse.

Two of Thrasher’s goals came in the fourth quarter to help the Knights secure the win after Navy Prep pulled within 5-4. Other key contributors for CCBC Essex included faceoff specialist Brent Hiken (), who won 12-of-17 faceoffs on the day.

Also, Knights goalie Brian Beatson finished with 13 saves, including four in the third quarter while attackmen Brian White () and Ty Kashur contributed two assists each.

CCBC Essex (5-1), ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA poll, returns to the field at 7 p.m. Wednesday when the team hosts .

CCBC Essex Women’s Lacrosse Keeps Winning

Sophomore forward Paige Orpin () scored seven goals and added an assist as the Knights cruised to a 23-7 win Saturday over visiting Brookdale Community College.

CCBC Essex (4-0), ranked eighth in the NJCAA national poll, will face its toughest test of the season at 6 p.m. Monday when they travel to Arnold to face Anne Arundel Community College. Anne Arundel (5-0) is ranked second in the NJCAA.

CCBC Essex Baseball Sweeps Frederick CC

Sophomore pitchers Greg Myers () and Blake Geiger () each hurled complete games as CCBC Essex swept Frederick Community College, 5-3 and 6-5, respectively on Saturday. 

Outfielder Maikel Reyes (game 1) and shortstop Omar Cordero (game 2) each had key 2 RBI hits for the Knights (5-6) against Frederick, which was ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

CCBC Essex returns to the field at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday against Prince George’s Community College.
