The Baltimore Blast will soon have a new rival to the north.

The Major Indoor Soccer League announced Wednesday that the city of Reading, PA will be the home of a new indoor soccer franchise.

"We are very pleased to welcome Reading as a member of the MISL," MISL Senior Director Chris Economides wrote in a news release. "As we grow the MISL into new cities, an addition such as Reading, which will be an excellent regional rival for the Baltimore Blast, strengthens the league’s structure and will bring great entertainment to eastern Pennsylvania."

The name of the new franchise, which is expected to begin play for the 2013-2014 season, will be announced at press conference July 30. Previous iterations of the indoor soccer league have included a team in Harrisburg, PA.

A new rival is one more big development this year for the Blast, who won the league championship.

Earlier this year, the team moved it's training facility from Baltimore City to Parkville; at the same time the team relocated its headquarters to Edgemere.
