Photos: Ballroom Dancing at Chase Elementary

Students there participated in a week-long program.

Fifth graders at Chase Elementary School expanded their musical horizons this week.

Chase is one of 40 county elementary schools where fifth grade students spend a week learning ballroom dancing.

Suzie Henneman, a retired Baltimore County teacher, shuttled to other schools she worked with this week on Friday, including Oliver Beach Elementary. Seven schools in all did ballroom dancing this week.

Students demonstrated dances for parents including the merengue, swing and tango. At the end, Henneman invited parents to join in and dance with their children.

Clarification: Henneman taught the ballroom dancing program at three schools this week. Four others were taught by two other instructors.
