Eastern Tech School Spirit Remains High

Students at the Essex school rally behind the football team despite a 1-5 record after Friday's homecoming loss to Perry Hall.

Eastern Tech's football team might be having a sub-par season by its standards, but that hasn't dimmed school spirit among students.

Students came decked out in orange and white—Eastern Tech's school colors—for a pep rally Friday afternoon as a way of rallying behind the football team prior to its homecoming game against at CCBC Essex.

The marching band riled up up the students in the school gymnasium and there were performances by the Asian Culture Club and the cheerleading squad.  It added up to letting the football team—along with all of the other sports teams—know they had the full support of the student body.

But  and two years after winning it all, Eastern Tech football continued to struggle in its move to Class 3A in 2011. Perry Hall jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead en route to a 42-18 victory on Friday.

The Mavericks are now 1-5 going into Friday's home game against Towson. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at CCBC Essex.
