On the girls side, Kenwood (13-7) capped its first regular season with a winning record in a decade with a 70-25 win Thusday over visiting Towson. The Bluebirds are the 13th seed in the Class 4A North and will travel to No. 4 Paint Branch for an opening round game on Friday.

Eastern Tech (6-13), which lost its last three games to close the regular season, is the fifth seed in the Class 3A North and will host 12th-seeded Patapsco on Friday in an opening round game. Also, Chesapeake is the second seed in Class 2A North and will host the winner of Edmondson/Westside and Lansdowne on Feb. 27.

Note: Only the top four teams in each region are seeded. The rest are placed in the bracket in a blind draw.

Is it fair that only the top four teams are seeded in most playoffs involving Maryland's public high schools, often forcing teams with better records to play at teams with worse records?
