Newark Mayor Cory Booker Cancels CCBC Essex Speech

The Newark, N.J. mayor was set to speak Tuesday at the college before canceling his appearance on Monday.

Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark, N.J. has cancelled his scheduled appearance at CCBC Essex.

Booker, who made national headlines last week when he rushed into a burning building to save a woman's life, was set to speak at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday as part of the college's "" series.

CCBC Essex spokesman Jacquie Lucy said Booker contacted college officials and said is unable to travel Tuesday due to "unforeseen circumstances."

Lucy said CCBC is hopeful Booker could reschedule although no possible new dates have been discussed.
