Last Chance: Comptroller Offers State Tax Assistance

As the deadline to file taxes approaches, the comptroller's office is offering help preparing and filing state returns.

With the tax deadline approaching, Comptroller Peter Franchot announced that all of his 12 local branch offices will open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to provide free  income tax return assistance and preparation.

Those offices include locations in Annapolis, Baltimore, Cumberland, Elkton, Frederick, Hagerstown, New Carrollton/Landover, Salisbury, Towson, Upper Marlboro, Waldorf and Wheaton.

According to a news release, workers at the comptroller's office will help prepare state tax forms for free on Saturday and will offer free tax assistance in their offices from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and over the telephone from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week.

In addition, the release added that all agency locations will offer last-minute assistance and preparation from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
