Bevins Appoints Essex Man to County Planning Board

John Polek to represent Sixth District for three-year term.

Councilwoman Cathy Bevins recently appointed John Polek to serve on the Baltimore County Planning Board as the representative of the Sixth District.

Polek is the owner of Sunset Harbor Marina and a resident of Hopewell Pointe. A retired member and former instructor for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Polek is the former president of the Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County, and currently serves on the board of directors.

He has previously served as a board member for the Baltimore County Conference & Visitors Bureau and the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce, as vice president of the Hopewell Pointe Community Association, and as chairman of the Hopewell Pointe Architectural Review Committee.

Polek will serve the remainder of a three-year term set to expire on Dec. 31, 2013.
