Essex Senior Center Helps Kami's Jammies

In conjunction with the Casey Cares Foundation, Essex Senior Center is collecting 100 or more pairs of new pajamas for the Kami’s Jammies Program by the end of May 2012.

The Casey Cares Foundation realizes that children on extended stays at the hospital often need some extra support. The Kami's Jammies Program provides new sleepwear and themed pajama parties to pediatric patients at hospitals such as: Children's Hospital at University of Maryland, Children's Hospital at Sinai, Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Howard County General, Carroll County General, Baltimore/Washington Medical Center, Holy Cross, Kennedy Krieger, NIH, Franklin Square, York Hospital, GBMC, Georgetown University Hospital.

Inspired in memory of a Casey Cares child, this program helps children feel more at home in an otherwise sterile environment. A frequent, overnight hospital patient, Kamryn, who bravely battled leukemia, felt special when she wore a new pair of pajamas in place of hospital gowns.

"Whether they are newly diagnosed, and can’t leave the hospital; on active treatment, but able to be in crowds; or are in remission, and ready for a weekend away, we can do exactly what each family needs, at every point in their treatment-and we do!

"The pajamas are wonderful for the kids that can’t participate in our other activities due to a weakened immune system, it really brightens their day,”

Please help make a difference—Bring in a new pair of 2-piece pajama sets.

(Infant and teen sizes especially needed.)
