Visitor Confronts Alleged Burglar in Home

Police arrested an Essex man after the incident early last week.

An Essex man was arrested early last week after a visitor found him inside her host's home.

Raymond Ashford Hassett, 24, of the 200 block of Orville Road was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and destruction of property, according to online court records.

Baltimore County police responded to the 1000 block of Arncliffe Road at 1:36 p.m. on Nov. 5. According to police, Hassett pried open a basement door to a home and, once inside, he was confronted by an out-of-town visitor in the home.

Hassett ran home, where he was arrested. It was unknown at the time if anything was taken, according to the police incident summary.

Hassett was being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson on $35,000 bail.
