Swastika Spray-Painted on Another Bowleys Quarters Vehicle

The latest incident comes after the property of more than three dozen residents in the same community was vandalized in a similar fashion last month.

Police are investigating whether an incident of vandalism in which a pickup truck in Bowleys Quarters was spray painted with a racial slur on Thursday may be related to vandalism last month.

The truck's owner told police that some time on Thursday he discovered that someone had spray-painted a backward swastika on his 2001 Dodge Ram, which was parked at the intersection of Carrollwood Road and Blue Heron Court.

A neighbor told police that he saw two males riding skateboards around 9 p.m. before stopping at the victim’s vehicle, according to police reports. The witness told police the males stood there for a while but when he got close to them they began to walk away and he didn’t see the damage.

Another witness told officers she arrived home a little after 9 p.m. and noticed the damage to the vehicle but she did not see who committed the vandalism, the reports said.

The victim, who is white, said he did not believe the vandalism was racially motivated and is convinced it was just random.
