A Maryland state trooper was sent to Shock Trauma after his vehicle was struck on the scene of another crash.

A Maryland state trooper is recovering from injuries sustained in a crash Monday morning, after a vehicle crashed into his police car on the outer loop of I-695 in Essex, according to a statement from Maryland State Police.

Christopher Hall, 28, a 10-year veteran of the police force, was on the scene of a crash on I-695 near Route 702 shortly before 6:30 a.m., with the police car stopped in the left lane and emergency lights flashing. Trooper Hall was sitting in his vehicle when a Dodge Stratus struck the police car in the right rear.

An emergency crew transported Hall to Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries, according to the press release.

Police identified the driver of the Dodge as Vicente Lopez-Calixto, 63, of Dundalk. Investigators are looking into the crash, but said there is no evidence that alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident.
