Baltimore County Kids 'Shop with a Cop'

Maryland State Troopers, Wal-Mart partner together to help 40 local children buy presents for Christmas.

Christmas came early for 40 Baltimore County children thanks to the Maryland State Police and Wal-Mart.

This past Saturday, the children received a police escort to the Golden Ring Wal-Mart and had the opportunity to buy some of the things they had been wishing for this holiday season. The troopers that provided the escort came from the Westminster, Waterloo, Glen Burnie, JFK Highway barracks and the truck unit.

Wal-Mart, along with other private sources, donated $100 gift cards for each child to go shopping. The state troopers then assisted their designated shopper with the selection and purchase of their gifts.

Following their shopping trip, the troopers drove the children to where students served the children lunch and helped wrap their presents. Lunch was prepared by the school's culinary arts students while those from the criminal justice program helped wrap presents and those from the business program helped with face painting.
