The Baltimore County Police Department reported that it continues to investigate a weekend shooting in Dundalk that injured two people who police said were not the shooter's intended targets.

A man and woman had been visiting people in the 100 block of Chestnut Street and were leaving at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday when they were shot, police said.

The victims—a 65-year-old man and 65-year-old woman—were each shot in the upper body at least once as they left the neighborhood in their car, according to police.

Police said the victims drove to Dundalk Avenue and Broening Road, where they called authorities, and were taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

"While a motive behind the shooting has not been determined, investigators believe that the victims were not the shooter’s intended targets," according to the report. Police said the victims did not know who the shooter was.
