A 49-year-old man died in the blaze.

A 12-year-old boy alerted by smoke detectors called 911 to report a fired in Rosedale that killed a 49-year-old man over the weekend, Baltimore County fire officials say.

The cause of a fire Sunday that took the life of a 49-year-old Rosedale man remains under investigation.

Baltimore County fire officials Monday said the man, who died in the home located in the 1300 block of Seiling Avenue in Rosedale, has not been identified. A final identification will be done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Fire fighters were called to the home around 7:16 a.m. Sunday for a report of a dwelling fire with a possible resident trapped inside.

An unidentified 12-year-old boy who was in the home at the time told fire fighters that he was awakened by smoke detectors. The boy went downstairs and found a fire in the rear of the house.

The boy then left the home and called 911, according to a statement issued by the Baltimore County Fire Department.

About 60 fire fighters and 19 trucks were called to contain the blaze. Fire department officials report that the fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

The unidentified man was found in an area where the fire is believed to have started, according to the fire department statement.
