Police Investigating Pair of Brazen Essex Robberies

One man was attacked with a bat while another was placed in a choke hold in two unrelated attacks on Saturday, police said.

Baltimore County police are investigating a pair of brazen robberies that occurred Saturday in Essex.

The first occurred around 2 a.m. when a 40-year-old man was allegedly attacked by a former co-worker.

According to police reports, the victim and the suspect had drinks at a bar when the pair got into an argument. The victim then walked to his home on North Essex Avenue where he was attacked with a baseball bat, police said.

The second robbery occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a 32-year-old man was attacked and robbed while walking along Dehavilland Way, police said.

According to police, three suspects walked up to the victim and asked him for a dollar. When the man told them he didn’t have any money, one of the suspects placed the victim in a chokehold while the other two went through his pockets, police said.

A neighbor who witnessed the robbery yelled at the men to stop before the trio ran off toward Berliner Place, police said. The victim told police that the suspects ran off with his wallet, which contained $200.  The wallet was later recovered without the money.

Police are asking that anyone with information on these two cases to contact the Essex Precinct by calling 410-887-0220
