According to police reports, the couple arrived around 9:50 p.m. at the Star Motel, located on the 9300 block of Pulaski Highway. When they arrived at their room, they found the suspect in the bathroom.

The suspect then allegedly threatened them with a handgun and pistol-whipped the male victim in the back of the head before escaping with $12,000. The money was part of a life insurance policy the male victim received following the death of his mother. The female victim, who was 32 weeks pregnant, was unharmed in the robbery, the report states.

According to the reports, the suspect escaped out of the rear bathroom window and could not be found.

In the other case, a 25-year-old Essex man was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday after he tried to buy drugs from the suspects.

According to police reports, the victim approached four men along Hadwick Road and asked if they had any marijuana. Two of the men then asked the victim to follow them into an apartment building. Once inside, one of the suspects allegedly punched the victim in the eye and stole his cell phone, keys and cash.

That suspect, along with the one with the handgun, then ran out of the apartment and met up with the other two men outside, at which time they ran off toward Queen Purchase Lane.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is asked to contact the Essex Precinct at 410-887-0220.
