Police Investigating Essex-Middle River Armed Robberies

The three incidents over the last week are isolated and unrelated, police said.

Baltimore County police are investigating three armed robberies that occured over the last week in Essex.

The most recent occured early Sunday morning, when a 21-year-old Rosedale man was robbed at knifepoint.

According to police reports, the victim ran into a woman he knew around midnight Sunday. The pair then drove in the victim’s car to unit block of Aquia Place. At that polnt, the report continued, a man came to the side of the victim’s vehicle, pulled him out and put a knife to his back.

The victim told police the man stole his wallet cell phone and keys before he and the woman he met ran toward Midego Road.

The man suspected of the robbery, according to police reports, was a black male, between 24-28 years old, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds with a thin build and dreadlocks and wore a black bomber jacket, a hooded sweatshirt and a black bandana.

The second case took place late Friday night, when a man allegedly robbed an Essex Royal Farms store.

According to a police report, the man entered the store, located at 627 Mace Avenue, around 11:50 p.m. Store employees told police that the man got a soda and brought it to the register.

Then, according to the report, the man jumped behind the counter, implied he had a gun and demanded all the money. The store employee opened the register and the man took about $80 before running out of the store.

The victims told police the man who robbed them was white, between 25-29 years old, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds with a medium build and black hair.

Finally, a 29-year-old Essex man was robbed at knifepoint after trying to purchase drugs last week.

The victim told police he met another man about 3 a.m. March 5 at the corner or Lannerton and Mazon Road. According to police reports, the victim pulled out $100 to buy marijuana before the suspected drug dealer pulled a knife and grabbed the victim’s money.

The suspect was last seen running down Lannerton Road toward Compass Road, the report continued.

Captain Stephen Hlavach told Patch that the cases are unrelated and stressed that the Royal Farms robbery represented the first involving a commercial business since December.
