Police Arrest City Man In Verizon Store Burglaries

Alex Ramon Perez, 25, was arrested on Dec. 18.

Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a series of six burglaries at Verizon Wireless stores in Parkville and Rossville where more than $30,000 worth of phones were stolen.

Alex Ramon Perez, 25, of the 6200 block of Alta Avenue was charged with six counts of second-degree burglary. He was released from the Baltimore County Detention Center Dec. 19 on $75,000 bail.

Police arrested Perez after they tracked the sale of some of the stolen phones, which they said were sold on the online classifieds site Craigslist, back to him, according to police department spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton.

Perez was charged in connection with , Batton said.

Perez was also charged in connection with two burglaries in the 8600 block of Pulaski Highway on Oct. 29 and Nov. 18, she said.

In each of those burglaries, it was reported that burglars got into the stores by using a key and that, in some cases, alarms were disabled.

Batton said that Perez is not a Verizon Wireless employee.

A second suspect has not yet been charged in the burglaries but the investigation is ongoing, she said.

Earlier this month, Baltimore County Police said they were investigating a possible connection with a similar burglary in Harford County. Batton was unable to confirm whether or not Perez was charged in that crime.
