Pair Arrested in Essex Home Invasion

A man awoke early Wednesday to find two people in his home.

A Glen Burnie man and an Essex woman were arrested following a home invasion in Essex early Wednesday morning.

According to police, a couple entered a home in the 800 block of Brunswick Road via a rear window at about 3:39 a.m. Wednesday. They took a purse containing money and medication before being confronted by a resident. One of the intruders displayed a knife.

The pair fled, and police located them shortly afterwards near the intersection of Martin Boulevard and South Marlyn Avenue. The purse, two jackets, two sets of keys and most of the medication was recovered.

Some of the remaining medication and a cell phone were not found.

Elaine C. Mayhue, 25, of the 900 block of Garden Deive in Essex and William T. Collins, 28, of the 300 block of Rainwater Way in Glen Burnie were each charged with two counts of armed robbery, first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of theft.

Collins was freed on $150,000 bail. Mayhue remains held at the Baltimore County Detention Center in Towson on $125,000 bail.
