Nine People Displaced Following Fire in Middle River

Home on Bird River Road suffers excessive damage.

Six adults and three children were seeking emergency assistance from the Red Cross on Monday after a one-alarm fire caused extensive damage to their home on the 10000 block of Bird River Road.

Baltimore County Fire Department spokesman Elise Armacost said the fire started about 2:34 p.m. and spread to both floors of the home, which, according to state property records, belongs to Carolyn and Charles Sutton.

Armacost said 10 pieces of equipment were used at the fire, including eight engines. No one appeared to be home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters contained the fire by 3:17 p.m. Officials at the Red Cross said they were on the scene to offer the family emergency shelter along with helping them obtain any emergency financial assistance they may need.
